When I began my doctorate at Texas Tech University, my thoughts about arts administration focused on ensuring that the performing arts organizations in which my friends and family played stayed viable. That attitude continues today. I feel encouraged by the new and innovative ways that those in performing arts are folding in other notions and ideas about what the power of the arts is all about and how it can be a forward moving force that is inclusive, nimble, and resilient.
This attitude is evident in my work both as a teaching artist and as an arts administrator. I work to ensure that everyone is heard and seen. I work to provide effective and transparent communication. Finally, I work to keep arts organizations alive and moving forward.
